Advent and Creation

Creation

adaptation of Psalm 139

Where shall I go from your spirit? Where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend into the heavens, you surround me. If I’m imprisoned in earth’s depths, you find me. When I travel the wings of morning, you lead me. When I return weary at dusk, you enfold me. If I allow darkness to shroud me even then is you light revealed to me for you know me fully. My frame was not hidden from you when I was being made in secret intricately wrought in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance for you are the ground of my being. Through the ages you have formed my inward parts. You have knit me together in my mother’s womb. You conceived the days of my life and wrote them in your book before they had ever begun. How precious to me are your thoughts and how vast the sum of them. Grant me the experience of the mystery of my bodies so that I perceive the Word manifest in my flesh and realise the promise of my beginnings. Help me sing with you throughout the ages the full knowing of my place in your creation. I will praise you for I am wonderfully made! How awesome are all your works!

Good morning! As we approach Advent, I have been contemplating another kind of initiation, the initiation event of the birth of the body of Jesus. I want to share with you some glimpses of the vision of Mary as the child grew within her womb. It is a vision of creation, of Christ’s unfolding within this cosmos.

In the northern hemisphere, Jesus is born in the depths of winter and the people in the darkness see a great light within their consciousness. For us in the Southern hemisphere, we see the great light of his unfolding spirit within the darkness of our physical body. It was the Southern mysteries into which the Sophia or wisdom Mary of Matthew’s gospel was initiated. These mysteries of the body were completed for her at the foot of the cross, where she fully realised how the death of the body of Jesus made it possible for humanity to be born anew into Christ’s spirit.

As we enter into this mystery, let the images of your own creation rise up to your inner eyes and allow your soul to be permeated by the awesome abundance of life we participate in – for this is a story not just of Mary’s initiation and the making the body of Jesus, but the initiation and making of each of us, in order to contain the fullness of Christ:

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.. and Mary perceives The Word. The Word as a vibration, a movement of spirit within the unmanifest light of God, an oscillation of the fabric of creation emitting a pure ringing as time begins… The very fabric of the cosmos is different. Each atom and the wind between it is lighter, larger – filled with an energy beyond our imagining. Each atom sings in response to God. The Word is the song of every atom and this song moves between and is contained within the atoms. The spheres of the atoms emit a tone of crystal purity, forming a choir of perfection that rings out and magnifies God… It is the echo of this sound we can still hear as we listen to the music of the spheres. The planetary soul of the moon sings at full tide and casts its net of silver sound across the earth’s waters and the waters shiver in rhythmic response, flowing out and drawing back with each breath of the heavenly song… for the Word is an experience of movement within the heart of God, an enlargening, a flowing out in waves, an outpouring in infinite circles of God’s desire to create. God breathes out and each microcosmic sphere of this universe responds to this infinite cosmic tide. The creation of God is the divine call and the Word is the willing response. Together they sing in a harmony that creates the third sound of manifestation. This is the mystery of the trinity, through which the human spirit was born.

“In the beginning God was creating and heaven and the earth were within his being. And the earth was without form, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. ”

Mary stands in darkness, a darkness unlike any she has known. It is so alive it seems to vibrate through her as if she is part of a gathering elemental storm, part of a formless patterning of energy.

Mary beholds the unmanifest light, an intermingling of light and dark, an intricate lattice that has yet to separate. As she watches, the lattices shift, a sphere of light becomes perceptible ‑ like the sun seen through a veil of dark mist… There is a profound stillness … and then a sea of molten glass gathers around the middle of the sphere. Almost it could be a picture of the sun dawning over the ocean, yet the sun can be seen in its wholeness through the waters, not half reflected on it… The whole of creation rings with joy as a wind sweeps across the crystal oceans of the deep. Her soul leaps as she witnesses the spirit of God breathing on the face of the waters. Even greater wonder falls upon her as she knows that she had seen in this outpouring of God’s breath, the seed of the human spirit…

As she meditates on this within her she breathes in his abundant life. As she flows out in praise she breathes out a prayer for the following of God’s perfection:

“Thanks be to God who gives us the victory, who has created within me the opening and the channel. Earth and heaven unite within me to bring life. God is with me and the blessing of the I AM is also with me! “…

Mary stands robed in the blue of the heavens – the colour of darkness seen through light. The light of her devotion to the Christ shines within the darkness of her worldly body. The Spirit of God passes over Mary who perceives the touch on the waters of the spirit held within her soul… Her passion for God is an enkindling spark in the darkness of the earth, an echo of divine beginnings. Heaven and earth meet within her and the power of that collision splits the cell that began the miracle of creation within her…

The cell has just split and is being propelled by cilia down the fallopian tube. As with every initiation of rebirth it takes three days for it to reach the uterus. In this time it divides again and again until, with more than 100 cells, it takes on the shape of a sphere. The first clustering of the cells around a hollow centre echoes the bodies of the Archai upon Old Saturn. In the cell development of the embryo of the body of Jesus, Mary perceives the Archai enclosing the spheres of the sacrificed warmth of the Thrones in cell‑shaped structures.

The awesome sacrifices of divine beings for us to become the image of God, appear to Mary as a waterfall, an overflowing of love, light and life from the hierarchies. Images of ancient initiations flow past her eyes ‑ pictures full of wonder and revelation, the keys to the kingdom of heaven. These images speak the living Word to her soul. She witnesses the Spirits of Primordial Beginnings (Archai) as wonder‑filled names of God written in flames – flames that appear to he like Hebrew writing, but which are released within her soul as living beings in her contemplation the timing and currents of God’s plan. She encounters the Lords of Wisdom, great wheels of eyes speaking to her soul of unimaginable life and harmony in living according to God’s plan. And in every hierarchy and in every incarnation of this earth she sees Christ; his divine will in the Thrones, his life in the Dominions, his love in the Dunamei. She is being prepared so that later, at the foot of the cross, she will understand the greatest mystery of all, his revelation within our being as the I AM.

Mary dwells in the wisdom of the miracle of the human body. She sees the image of God, the cosmic Christ, the blueprint of humanity, etch into the cosmic zodiac and manifest within the parts of the human body…the feet swimming like fish in the watery substance of a yet unfinished earth while the transparent image of the upper body floats above, seemingly more perfect but as yet unable to manifest…

Other images of the beginning unfold…In each image she finds the Christ enabling us to hear the call of God to reunite with the heavens… As she perceives the four week old foetus forming, she sees that it is shaped like an ear, with a heart where the drum of an ear would be. She hears the heart begin to beat, moved by the power of the spirit in earthly manifestation. Joy rises in her to know that even in our beginnings we respond to the Word by listening with the whole of our being! Hope arises in her that humanity will do this again!

Yet on the physical plane, we observe how strangely the shape grows, still with a tail, half fish, half reptile… Only four weeks later, the tail has almost disappeared, the spinal cords extend the entire length of the spine and there is circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid. What short a length of time to recapture within the body the sun and moon’s cycles forming the nerve filaments from the spinal cord!… By 12 weeks the memory of the separation of the sexes in Lemuria manifests and this freed energy develops the brain, just as the cerebellum assumes importance in the foetus. Such extraordinary progress! A fast-forward of our evolution, a rush of memory that is overwhelming! No wonder a mother’s etheric enlarges so far – it contains the immensity of the radiations from the heavens for the shaping of the new body…

In 40 weeks the pregnancy is over – 40 days of the initiation into the wilderness of this earthly body. A baby is born. The incoming soul is fully here, fresh from the heavens, it’s physical eyes still blue from its sojourn through the Sun, the stars of its aura still manifesting the heavenly firmament which God placed in the heavens to give light upon all earthly bodies. Who hasn’t felt the awe of seeing a new‑born child? We long to welcome it and our hearts flow out as we are touched once more by the miracle of creation. At that moment we know, as did Mary, that to be fully human is to become divine, that one day the Sun Spirit will shine from our entire being. We know that we too will be welcomed in our birth into the heavens, enfolded in gladness by great beings who sing in the sea of God’s love…

Thanks be to God who has created life within the ground of our being. Thanks be to Christ who has given us the opening to return to the heavens. Thanks be to the Spirit which has united the two in the victory of creation’s fulfilment. For God is with us and the blessing of the I AM is also with us.
