What it means to be sons and daughters of God
On this day, 20 years ago, my beloved spiritual teacher and mentor spoke these words. They inspire everything I write, think and feel.
For creation, that is nature, waits with eager longing for the revelation of the Sons of God. Romans 8:19
“Reading this verse, I stood still for a moment. Sons and daughters of God? This means beings who are of God’s class, beings who have come from the very mind and consciousness of the Gods. Us? Do we carry the very essence, the very blood, the very life of God within us? And is nature, the cosmos, waiting for us to reveal ourselves?
The mind boggles if you start thinking of what that makes you. The Bible calls you ‘Morning Stars’. Psalm 8 says of the human being: Yet thou hast made him little less than God, and dost crown him with glory and honor. The Bible gives us all sorts of titles, and by right these belong to us. But we have delegated these titles to other beings and things. We have become inferior in our own mind, in our own thinking.
We say, ‘We can’t do that, we are but frail human beings,’ which, of course, is utter nonsense in the light of the statements which are made in the Bible. You are the sons and daughters of God. You are beings descended from Heaven. You have come from the Heavens. You have come from the stars. You have come from the very essence, the very power and the very love of God. And the Cosmos is waiting for you to realise that and to act accordingly. For intellect, mind and thinking are the very essence of the Gods.”
