Holy Night 5 applied to May
December 28-29 – Taurus
Consciously purify the body of thought.
Discipline thinking. Concentrating on the positive. Converting the black doves of thought into white doves, because our thinking is, until it is not consciously conducted with discipline, like a dovecote! Keep this dovecote closed against foreign, negative thoughts.
Mystery: The purification of the temple by Jesus Christ.
Rudolf Steiner’s indications for the Holy Nights given to Herbert Hahn

- Heilige Nacht
28./29. – Stier
Bewusst den Gedankenkörper reinigen. Gedankenzucht.
Fifth Contemplation: by Kristina Kaine
It is very important for us to be determined to be as conscious as possible. This is not easy when we are surrounded by so much automation, which is set to infinitely increase with the development of Artificial Intelligence. Technology will either absorb us completely, or it will signal the importance of using it in a conscious way. It serves no purpose to avoid technology, it is certainly useful.
As with all things in life, we must see the advantages of both sides; good and bad, black and white, light and dark, up and down, left and right. When we consciously see the dark side of things we can then fully understand the light. We can then position ourselves in the middle, raised up. We have this image in the three crosses on Golgotha; Christ in the middle, Lucifer and Ahriman on either side of him.
These antiforces, Lucifer and Ahriman – and there are others, will invade our thoughts when we are not fully conscious. The more we become aware of this, the more forgiving we will be of our own thoughts as well as the thoughts of others. Not that we should use the excuse, “Oh that is Lucifer speaking.” In our recognition it is possible to see the potential of higher thoughts. If we think a destructive negative thought, the sooner we recognize it, the sooner we will convert our “black doves of thought into white doves”.
As we become more conscious of this process we will see how often we criticize the black doves of thought when we should really just be recognizing the entity that is influencing the thought because of a lack of consciousness. These beings are very clever and they infiltrate human consciousness in many ways. We may never be able to identify them fully, but simply by being aware that they are active everywhere will assist us. We now begin to build the dovecote in our consciousness, that place of safety for the white doves of thought to dwell.
This experience is born in us through difficulty. The birth will only take place in our awareness of the difficulty – caused by “foreign, negative thoughts” – and the associated pain. This enables the purification of the Temple.
“When we experience symbols it’s the ones that make us suffer that are genuine and from the spiritual world, and not the ones that give us joy. We must carry them around with us until we’ve grasped their meaning. The spiritual from them must be born in us while we suffer.” Rudolf Steiner From the Contents of the Esoteric Classes 5th November, 1910
