Holy Night 2

December 25-26 – Aquarius

Night of John. The Eagle of the soul circling high on its wings and looking back from a great height, observes its own life. And now the man recognizes the Laws of Karma.

The Mystery: Choosing the narrow and difficult path or the path that is wide and easy.

For those who are born of flesh it is hard to find the path of the spirit.

2. Heilige Nacht

25.-26. Dezember – Wassermann

Second Contemplation: by Kristina Kaine

If there is something more powerful than destiny, this must be the human being who bears destiny unshaken. ~ Rudolf Steiner

Why is it so difficult for us to accept that we alone have chosen our path just as others have chosen their path? No amount of well-meaning advice will change that. Each path is the right path. Sure, we can go round in circles at times, but the opportunity to move forward persists.

What we need is perspective, and the way to have this perspective is to “look back from a great height.” Using our Imagination, we view from a distance life’s events. Does it really matter what we experience in life? Every experience is an opportunity to improve, to grow, to be something more than we were a minute ago. Every minute of every day we change. When we face a difficult moment a process begins in our soul. We think about what just happened, feelings arise about it, then finally we can use our will to guide the disturbance in a new direction. It all rests on our perspective.

If we can look from a great height, in other words, be objective, we can recognize our destiny. This is when wisdom meets love; through wisdom we see how the other person is showing us our karma. Through love we can be grateful to them for revealing to us what we couldn’t see for ourselves.

The other option, taken by so many people, is to lash out at the other person holding up the mirror. This is the most selfish thing we can do. If we can find compassion in our soul for the role the other person agreed to take, great healing begins. On the other hand, we can be aware that we hold the mirror up for others to face their destiny; that is theirs to bear, we are just the mirror-holder.

When we understand this we stand in our I Am and we see our destiny as the greatest opportunity to be a little bit more moment by moment.

“The fact that our destiny, our karma, meets us in the form of absolute necessity is no obstacle to our freedom. For when we act we approach this destiny with the measure of independence we have achieved. It is not destiny that acts, but it is we who act in accordance with the laws of this destiny.” ~ Rudolf Steiner
