December 26-27 – Pisces
Now follow the 3 nights of the white lily. The soul recognizes that it cannot stay above but must come down again because in it, it possesses too much earthly weight.
The conscious mind begins to purify the earthly body and assumes that each food is as a viaticum (provision for a journey). I am the bread (words of Christ Jesus). We come from the bread, we live in the path of development of the bread and return to the bread.

3. Heilige Nacht
26./27. Die drei Nächte der weissen Lilie. – Fische
Third Contemplation: by Kristina Kaine
We walk in a deep and holy mystery during these Holy Nights. Our challenge is to be as conscious as possible of whole being; body, soul and spirit. These are not three separate parts of us, these three interact with each other continually. We will only be aware of this interaction if we make the decision to notice the subtle changes that take place within us.
What takes place within us when “The conscious mind begins to purify the earthly body”? Firstly, our mind needs to be conscious. For the most part our mind is not conscious, it operates through habitual thought patterns constructed over our lifetime. This is our constructed self. Our mind can only become conscious when it lets in the influence of our Higher Self. We are at a stage in our evolution where this is happening more often. Usually just for short periods, in certain situations, but it is happening. This is what we need to become conscious of.
As we awaken to what is taking place within us, we will understand what it means “to purify the earthly body.” The first thing we will notice is the activity of our etheric body which can be compared to the yeast in bread. This raising agent, which sustains the shape of our body, expands beyond the boundaries of our skin connecting us to the spiritual worlds within and around us. This purifies our thinking and we can have deep insights into the mysteries of the human being, and in turn our own being.
Bread is also the product of man’s labor and points to the labor required to become more consciously aware. There is no better time than during these Holy Nights to raise our awareness. The more conscious we become while we occupy this earthly body, the more conscious we will be in life after death. If we sleep here, we will sleep there. While that will not be very satisfying for us, it will also impact the whole of evolution.
Let us take some time during the third Holy Night to contemplate the magnitude of the contribution we can make by awakening to our Higher Self, our I Am.
“Again, without this being really recognized hitherto by science, these Twelve Holy Nights stand there, as though established out of the wise, hidden depths of the human soul, as if to say: Experience the Christ-Festival in all its profundity; but then plunge during the Twelve Holy Nights into the holiest mysteries of the Cosmos! – And this means, into the universal land whence Christ descended to the Earth.” Rudolf Steiner 21.12.1911
