Holy Night 9 applied to September and Virgo

January 1-2 – Virgo

Now come the three nights of the crown.

Release from the only intellectual, or release of the intellect from its earthly bonds and purposefulness. This is the thrice-holy night, in which the lower ego falls away and only the desire to serve, to devote oneself, remains.

Rudolf Steiner’s indications for the Holy Nights given to Herbert Hahn
Translation from German by Laura Zanutto 2015 and Mark Willan 2016

  1. Heilige Nacht

1./2.  – Jungfrau

Ninth Contemplation: Kristina Kaine

The one who wears the greatest crown is Christ. His crown is woven from his intentions which Steiner expresses as “only the desire to serve, to devote oneself,”. As we focus on the presence of Christ in us, in this earth, and in the Universe, we absorb him into our body, soul and spirit. Every thing we eat, every breath we take, every ray of sunshine we absorb, enables us to become Christ-ened. The more aware we are of this, the greater our ability to serve. Our awareness grows as we think these thoughts and try to experience them in our being.

Then we can think of the journey undertaken by this mighty spiritual being as he moved from a highly spiritualized condition into the denseness of the physical body of Jesus. When he had achieved that, which reached its fullness on the cross, he began returning to his spiritualized condition which is termed the resurrection.

Forming imaginations about the events of the Christ-ened Jesus process, and thinking about the gifts we receive at each stage of this process, enlivens Christ within us and around us. The more we accept this, the greater our ability to devote ourselves to Christ.

Neither Jesus nor the Christ went through the crucifixion and resurrection for themselves, they did it for us. Why? So that we could then assist them to do work they were not able to do by themselves. They need those who have “only the desire to serve, to devote oneself,”
