Holy Night Two
December 25-26 – Aquarius
Night of John. The Eagle of the soul circling high on its wings and looking back from a great height, observes its own life. And now the man recognizes the Laws of Karma.
The Mystery: Choosing the narrow and difficult path or the path that is wide and easy.
For those who are born of flesh it is hard to find the path of the spirit.
Bhagavad Gita: A selfish life, or a life devoted to humanity?
Rudolf Steiner’s indications for the Holy Nights given to Herbert Hahn

2. Heilige Nacht
25.-26. Dezember – Wassermann
Contemplation by Kristina Kaine in 2013
This night we celebrate John who was initiated by Christ himself. He was a forerunner for our evolutionary development. His symbol is the eagle, the one who did not enter fully into matter and who soars in the etheric spheres of this earth. Here we have the image of sense-free thinking; thinking that soars above earthly restrictions to reveal spiritual truth. If we have the love of John and the mobility in the etheric of the eagle, we see the true purpose of karma.
Our karma is a gift, it is only through our karma that we can experience freedom. It is the eagle who reminds us that we can be free. Yet mostly we think of karma as a punishment because of the great pain it causes in our soul. It is our choice to experience karma as pain, or as joy for the freedom it brings. If we experience it as pain then it contracts our being into the narrow and difficult path. If we experience it as joy we recognise karma as the redemption of man by himself.
When we release ourselves from the difficulty of our karma then our karma becomes a sacrament. This act of freeing ourselves creates a substance that flows from our hearts into the hearts of others. It is our selflessness that creates this substance. It is born out of harmony; harmony that we choose to restore by refusing to engage in our karma at that level which can create great disharmony for ourselves and others. Then through the eyes of love we see the infant who will become the Lord of Karma.
