Holy Night 7
December 30-31 – Cancer
The serpent on the sword pommel: wisdom. We should busy ourselves with uplifting readings. It is the night of the great command.
The mystery of activity: who exercises command over our soul? Who is the master of our soul, the doer of our deeds? We have the freedom to strengthen the goodwill in ourselves.
Rudolf Steiner’s indications for the Holy Nights given to Herbert Hahn

7. Heilige Nacht
30./31. – Krebs
Seventh Contemplation by Kristina Kaine
Is there a person on this earth who is not familiar with the image of the serpent in the Garden of Eden? It is important to understand the esoteric truth behind this image. Then we will understand the true nature of love and the Great Commandment that we should love one another from John 13:34
When we truly love another person, they will love us in return and then we both experience pure love that contains no self-interest. When our love is biased, motivated by our own needs, the serpent is always involved. The serpent is Lucifer. In the Garden of Eden, it was his job to lure human souls to enter into physical bodies and participate in this material world. At that time, we were androgynous spirits and the entry into the physical world meant that we split into male and female. The purpose for this was so that humans could produce a physical body so pure that the Cosmic Christ could enter into it and in this way give every human being the freedom to become self-realised individuals and eventually become gods themselves.
We can only begin to do this when we rule in our own souls. Each one of us has this responsibility. As we connect with our I Am, as we become consciously aware of feeling, thinking, and will, we wield our own sword. In this way we also redeem Lucifer, whose task is done, and we strengthen the good will in us.
