A Woman Clothed with the Sun
The last book in the Bible, The Revelation, reveals much about the world we live in today. It is astounding to think about how long ago it was written.
This is what I wrote in 2008 which could certainly be applied to today.
A Woman Clothed with the Sun
“And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery. And another portent appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which to be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days. Rev 12:1-7
We contain within our being the sun, moon and stars when the limits of our being expand beyond our skin; then we will be in labour. The seed within us, its gestation complete, is ready to be delivered. This seed is our I AM which first appeared on the earth in the Jesus child, born in Bethlehem two thousand years ago. Why does child birth herald this great event? Why not stone tablets or a flood and an ark? Why is the deepest secret hidden in the birth of a male child? And where are the shepherds and the kings? Why are they replaced by the fiery, purrhos, dragon?
When we see this portent, the semeion, the sign, we know that our soul is giving birth to our I AM. From within the womb of our soul, our I being is a rod of iron forged from our purest will. The fire for the forging is our pure feeling, and the rod is shaped by our pure thinking. These faculties are pure because they do not arise from any outer stimulus. They are founded in our experience of truth, beauty and goodness. They are the very opposite of the way modern human beings think, feel and behave in the world today.
When we achieve this new state of being our interaction with others changes for out of the purity of our feeling, thinking and will we evoke the dragon. This is the dragon who wants to drag things out of the highest heaven into the lowest earth. He is our creation. He attends every higher birth within us and takes away a third of what we have produced with the sweep of his tail. This is the normal course of events of which we must become conscious. Then we handle our relationships with a new understanding.
As we stand on the threshold of Christmas (2008) in the midst of a global financial crisis when a third of the value was swept from stock markets the world over, can we stop to look at the child? If we had kept our eyes on the child all along we would not be in this position, a position of fear without hope for so many. We are living The Revelation now. We are in labour continually and our focus should be on the child not the pain. We should also try not to make the birth more painful than it needs to be.”
