Palm Sunday 2012

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the final phase of the journey for Jesus as he fully assumes the Cosmic Christ force into himself when he is crucified. We have so little understanding of the power of this force. If we received it into ourselves unprepared it could blow us apart. This, of course, must not happen and we can look to sacred texts for guidance about how we might participate of this force without damaging ourselves.

‘The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” And Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written, “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on an ass’s colt!”’ Jn 12:12-15

We can observe this event in our Imagination and see the crowd taking the branches – were they dead ones that had fallen or did someone scale these giant palms and cut fresh green ones? They would have needed a lot for a crowd. Would it have been easier for the ass to walk on these branches? Probably not. These are the details that we can think about to bring these stories to life. While this is described as an out event, it also happens within us.

Imagine many young men quickly scaling the mighty Palm trees whose fronds seems to reach up and touch the sun. It was as if they were bringing down the very sunlight itself to pave the way for Jesus. He is the Lord, the I AM, and it was the divine purpose of Israel the nation to produce a pure blood line that could contain the very presence of the Cosmic Christ.

The ass represents our animal or instinctive astral nature which can be very unruly. Our I AM must ride on the forces of our astral body into Jerusalem – the place of peace which is acquired by repeated effort. Only when we have done this work in our soul, by becoming aware of the activity of our thoughts, feelings and intentions, then our soul becomes the daughter of Zion, elevated, and we can begin to experience the presence of Christ within us. However the soul always likes to know that it is supported by the astral and we can feel as if the ground beneath us no longer supports us. Then we can look towards the king, the Christed I AM and know that we have fully prepared ourselves for the journey through Holy Week.
