How to Make a Path Straight

Continuing to Contemplate St John’s Festival

For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.” Mt 3:3

The purpose of the prophets in the Bible was to prepare us for the changes that would take place in our consciousness as we evolved. This is a fact that our scientists do not apply across the board. In one breath they can say that man was once a primitive being and at the same time suggest that we have always thought the way we think today. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Human beings have moved from being clairvoyant through their astral body to having no spiritual vision whatsoever – the wilderness. Now we are developing a new form of seeing through our I-being which is directly connected to our thinking, the way we form ideas.

To help us navigate this change we needed prophets. The word prophet, prophetes, means to speak before; pro means before plus the root of phanai which means ‘to speak’. Prophets are those who can speak about things before they happen so that we recognize them when they do happen. This helps us to recognise something new when it arises.

When Isaiah said Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight he was pointing to the most significant event in human evolution; the birth of our I Am out of our astral/soul constitution. Our soul takes a to and fro approach to life; I like this, I don’t like that. Wavering from love to hate in every second of life; what will I wear, what will I eat, what will I do etc.. Our I-being does not work like that, it has certainty and purpose; it path is straight.
