Holy Night 1 applied to January

The 12 Holy Nights sow a seed for our progress through the year ahead. Our sole purpose on this earth is to become aware our I Am, our True Self. By applying each of the 12 Holy Nights to each of the 12 months throughout the year we come closer to knowing ourselves more completely. In its highest expression our I Am becomes one with Christ who accompanies us each step of the way.

“The true name of Christ is “I Am”; who does not know or does not understand this and calls Him by another name does not know anything about Him. “I Am” is His only name.” Rudolf Steiner 27 May 1909

Christmas Eve, when Christ is born in the soul, the soul asks: can I listen with all my weaknesses, deficiencies and passions?

Symbol: The stable of Bethlehem, in which in lowliness and poverty is born the Light of the World. The Voice of the Silence penetrates to the soul and teaches to affirm joyfully the good in us and others.

Capricorn. The Divine Spirit is born in Matter. Spirit and Matter, the Alpha and Omega touches and creates life.

Mystery: The seeking soul in the darkness of a trackless forest. ~ Rudolf Steiner

How do we listen to the Voice of Silence? Listening is a special gift which becomes more attuned lifetime after lifetime as we are able to hear the Voice of Silence. If we have difficulty physically hearing the noises in our world in this life it can point to the way in which we listened in past lives. The same applies to any inability to hear the truth today.

We can never listen while we underestimate who we are. This is when the chatter of our weaknesses, deficiencies and passions drowns out the Voice of Silence. What is this Voice of Silence? It is the Logos, the Creative Word that speaks loudly, silently and continuously creating this Universe. If we can listen to it we can co-create with it.

The task of the Creative Word was “To place the future of mankind and earth in the hands of human beings and not interfere through a divine word of command – what confidence in man is that!” Hans-Werner Schroeder, The Cosmic Christ

The Christ Child is born tonight to remind us of this gift of freedom. Through this gift we become creators, initially creating our own Self through our ability to listen to the Voice of Silence.
