January 4-5 – Sagittarius
During the 12th night the crowns won are placed at the feet of the divine, because we have struggled against ourselves, but what we have wrung from it is grace, is the law of the spirit. Because grace is a stream from a source that a human being cannot reach with human power. Now is the start and end of a spaceless time – timeless space. Now everything is eternal and holy! Sagittarius’ power striving towards the goal must be directed in this way, so that it can take up the spiritual Good it receives.
We must now take on into our lives what we have recognized and received in the twelve holy nights, and spiritualise matter and the soul.

- Heilige Nacht
R. Steiner
Contemplation 12: Kristina Kaine
During 2020 and into 2021 the whole world dealt with the Coronavirus and gave us the time and space to look at life differently. Life and death were at the forefront of our minds and over 1.8 million people have now died.
Through these Holy Nights we focused on the place of Christ in our lives. We looked at the ways in which he expresses himself within us and within this world. We explored ways of enlivening his presence within us. If we continue this task through the year ahead our relationship with Christ will become more real.
As the presence of Christ becomes more real in our lives we will experience grace. Grace, charis, is the ability to have full control over all our feelings, thoughts and intentions. Grace is the ability to see the highest in everyone and everything. Then all our inner responses are graceful, dissolving our inner disturbances. If we become aware of this we also become aware of the presence of Christ within us.
St John emphasized the importance of grace at the beginning of his gospel.
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. […] And from his fulness have we all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:14-15, 16
Grace and truth are the pathways to experience the true presence of Christ. As we considered on the second Holy Night, “What other reason is there to love ourselves than to realize that we are giving birth to Christ. What an honor.”
